52x52"

Some order amongst chaos? This painting....man I could make 50 more of these if I had the time, money and space. This painting was an approach to the visual nature of biological heritage and constructed reality from dreams; with references to the methods of 20th century painting and architecture. A title is in progress, I expect to reach it when I have endowed my little brain further into research.

Statement

'Culchasimiture' is a series that explores the relationship between personal identity and ancient civilizations. Here I investigate the influences of countries right outside American borders, particularly Mesoamerican art that built the ancient civilizations of the Olmec, Mayan and Aztec world powers. The art that was made during their civilization expanded the sociological power of the image because of their hieroglyph system. Art is the exploration and investigation of creative instinct, so I use these drawings/paintings as an opportunity to dissolve several issues like communication, memory, identity and image theory.
